We appreciate the opportunity that God gave us to participate in a jail ministry.  We can't show any pictures online, but we wanted to share with you what a blessing this ministry is.  When we were first asked to go, we were both excited about an opportunity to minister and scared at the same time.  We had been praying the prayer of Jabez and asking for God to enlarge our territories.  On this particular day we had been discussing how we wanted to go minister somewhere and contemplating going to another nursing home or somewhere that we hadn't been before.  A few minutes later, we received a phone call about the jail ministry for women prisoners.  We knew it was an answer to our prayer.

We were apprehensive because we were expecting to see hard core, mean looking people.  We laugh about it now, but the picture in our minds was the worst possible scenario.  When we walked into the room where the women were, immediately we were humbled and our attitudes changed.  What we saw was a group of about twenty women sitting in a room and most of them were already in tears.  These were women who were broken.  They had reached the bottom and had no where to go but up and they were seeking help from the only source who can give them the help they needed.

We began singing Praise and worship and the women stood up and sang at the top of their lungs.  They raised their hands and cried out to God.  It was the most beautiful sight.  "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." Psalms 34:18.  We realized that this was another ministry comparable to the nursing home.  They are not glamorous, but the are needed.  These are the people that Jesus would go to.

We would like to recognize the people that keep this ministry alive.  We have been unable to participate on a regular basis due to other obligations, but the ministry is continually in our prayers and thoughts.

Harry Ormsby is the chaplain.  He has some faithful ministers who help him.  They include people such as: his wife Evelyn, Sister Sue Collett (mama Sue), Karen Ryle and many others that we have not met.  Please hold them up in prayer and remember other people who are working in these type of ministries for it is truly a great need.
