God healed Dusty!
by: Karan Ryle
(This is the original request for prayer we received from Karan Ryle: "Dustin Sumner is an 11 year old from Williamsburg. Dustin got sick Sunday and by Tuesday night was not expected to live. I ask that everyone please pray for Dustin and his family." Below is the next day testimony)
As you all know God laid Dusty on my heart last week and I went to pray for him on Wednesday. Before I left, I gave his mother a prayer cloth from the thousands at church that so many prayed over. When I sent out the prayer request last week, God put a burden on Anna Breeding's heart for Dusty too, so she called me and left a message saying if I needed anyone to go with me to the hospital that she would. As it happened, (God is so good) I did need someone to go with me Saturday. We had received a not so good report on Friday and had determined to pray that night so when we went Saturday we really didn't know what to expect, we just knew that God had it in His hands.
When we walked in, Connie, his mother, was very excited and told us that he had awaken on Friday night and had wiggled his toes and stuck out his tongue and nodded on command (they were worried about paralysis). Then her excitement continued. She began to ask us about prayer clothes and told us she didn't know much about them. She said after I left Wednesday she had rubbed the cloth on Dusty's chest and then taped it to his pillow. Then later a stain had appeared on the cloth. She had asked the nurses if they had spilled anything on it and they had told her no. She went on to say that she thought that God had used the prayer cloth to draw the infection out of his body. Anna and I agreed that we had never seen or heard of anything like that, but with God it sure could happen. Then, we went on into the ICU and prayed or Dustin and saw the prayer cloth for ourselves and that prayer cloth had a brownish yellow stain on it that looked just like infection, like when you take a bandage off of a wound and it has that yellowish drainage on it.
I believe, and I think Anna agrees, with every fiber in me that that's exactly what God did. Starting Friday night they had to induce his coma, because he was ready to wake up, but they weren't ready for him to. Even the nurses in the ICU agreed that "someone" other than the doctors had done something. Praise God, I'm glad we know who that someone was. On Monday they reduced his coma inducing drugs and they were still reducing it last night to wake him up. The swelling on his brain is coming down. He's using his left side well and they expect his right side to get better, but they don't know to what extent. I do, I'm claiming 100%.Our God is not a God of half way!! He's a God of more than enough!! Children's has treated only 3 children this year with Dusty's problems. The other 2 did not make it, and the doctors expected Dusty to die too. God is an amazing miracle working God, but it is our prayers that touch His heart. Thank you for persisting in prayer for Dusty. God's miracles in this situation have just begun. His mom (who's not saved, but for some reason has gotten very interested in God) promised me that she and he would come to church with me when he gets home. I can't wait!!
